Biography
G-sus is a 11 member gospel music group formed by renowned composer Rupert Fernandes. The band mainly
dwells in the genre of contemporary Christian music and draws influences from American Christian artists such as
Glad, Don Moen and Delirious amongst others.
Formed in early 2008, the actual beginnings of the band can be traced back to the June of 2007, when producer
Rupert Fernandes began scouting for young singers and musicians, with a special purpose in mind. The idea was
simple – create a group that could touch hearts and change lives through the power of music! What began back then as a thought and a handful of youngsters has today evolved into a vibrant musical group comprising 9
vocalists and 2 instrumentalists.
Just like its music, G-sus is a diverse blend when it comes to its members. The 9 vocalists comprise of 4 male and 5 female singers. Members originate from three different parts of Mumbai spanning three catholic parishes. Singers who can play compliment musicians with handy voices. The band is also a unique assortment of styles, genres, ages, skills, talent and personalities making it one of the most versatile Christian music groups. The name ‘G-sus’ in itself is another unique concoction, standing jointly for the bands faith and music! (G-sus is short for the chord G -
suspended and pronounced as ‘Jesus’).
The band is founded and headed by Rupert Fernandes, the well known mind behind the famous Hutch ‘you & I’
jingle. Rupert brings with him 17 years of experience including expertise from various projects spanning pop, jazz, rock & fusion.
In all G-sus may not be the most pious group to hit the gospel music scene; nonetheless a devout drive of
changing lives with the power of music defines the group’s style, vibe and vision. Rupert sums it up as “It’s not just music but music with a purpose.”
